Tutorials that are not "Monkey see, monkey do"?

I am brand new to Unreal Engine.

Was looking for some resources. First I looked at the Unreal Engine Official Documentation, and while it will be good when you are looking for something specific, just browsing through everything in order doesn’t tell me much on how to get started.

Then started looking for video tutorials on youtube, and most are terrible (including the official UE tutorial “Your First Game In UE5”.
The reason they are terrible, is because they do bunch of complicated stuff, and just tell you to follow, but in most cases never explain what they just did and how that works.

Since I’m a solo-dev, I am looking for tutorials on all aspects, namely - blueprints, level design (the technical aspect of it, tools and such), animations.

Have a fair bit of experience in other engines and programming languages, but I’m still looking for something that will explain everything in the most basic details.

it sounds like you want to learn the fundamentals.

You’ll have to let me know if there are any major blockers/differences in UE5 (since this tutorial was recorded in the early days of UE4) - But I’d like to recommend this playlist to you.
