Tutorial: Working With Components On Actors Part 1 gets stuck

Proceeding through the first Blueprints Tutorial, “Working with Components on Actors Part 1”, I get to a point where the tutorial claims that I’ve lost the Default Scene Root Component after adding a Static Mesh Component. However, this is not the case. The Default Scene Root component is still listed under the Actor, and the Static Mesh Component I added ( a cone), is lower in the hierarchy.

Regardless, the tutorial fails to proceed when I click the next button, simply showing the same window claiming the Default Scene Root component is lost.

Proceeding with Part 2, I now realize that the place I got to in Part 1 was in fact the end of that tutorial. Part 2 picks up right where Part 1 left off.

Though, the mention of the loss of the Default Scene Root is still inaccurate.

Thank you for this

Was looking for this. Thank you.

Hi Alex,

Can you link the tutorial page/video here? If it’s a video I’ll have to enter a ticket with our Learning Resources Team to get that fixed, but if it’s a page in the documentation I can correct that easily enough.

Let me know.

Tim

Wow, that was driving me nuts. Thanks for posting this.

It’s one of the built in tutorials under Tutorials->Blueprints->working with Components on Actors Part 1
It’s the very last step of that tutorial

I was also very confused about this. Thanks for answer. I hope this gets fixed or more accurate in future.

same here, the tutorial wouldn’t continue. i have to exit and start up the working with components on actors pat 2. Also with adding the cone/base component the default scene root is still listed under the actor.
