Tutorial: Panel Cloth Example Files (5.4)

Has anyone had any luck making progress on getting this to work?

Nope, maybe there was a stealth update to the files? Anyone checked?

No, I don’t think the files have changed.

Goblination posted a new video but his results are the same as above (ie. It doesn’t really work unfortunately)

i mean he kind of gets it working, but there’s still clipping. if we have to deal with all the simulation stuff he plays with this isn’t nearly as plug and play as the presentation suggested. i thought all this stuff was coming over in the USD from Marvelous. obviously still beta though and there are multiple disclaimers about the properties coming over, but…

did you get a chance to troubleshoot from the other thread?

something else to note is that goblination in that video it isn’t even a straight export out of marvelous, and in previous videos it looks like he isnt using the latest version of marvelous and so therefore isn’t checking ā€˜export garment simulation data’ or whatever…

I’m going to give up on this for now - hopefully in a while there will be a new version.

Tim, thanks for all your efforts! I assume by your radio silence that you’re hard at work on an update, so I can’t wait for that.

This will be a fantastic addition to the Unreal arsenal, but I think maybe it just isn’t ready yet and we all need to just wait a few months? I’ve put a huge amount of time and effort into trying to make this work, but for now I’ll stick to Marvelous Designer, Maya and then simulating using other methods.

Out of curiosity - how are you simulating via other methods in 5.4?

I currently am using marvelous designer (baked sims) but previously have used style3d or cineDraper. They work well.

If anyone missed the announcement, the Project Talisman demo has been released. I’ve written full step by step instructions for how to get the Unreal project with the full Captain’s outfit:

You can fully see the captain’s outfit simulating, and go through the Dataflow Graph to see how they got it to work.
