Tutorial needs to be updated

I am following the tutorial on how to paint and I am at the part where it says “To enable the Engine Folder, select View Option and then check the Show Engine Content checkmark box.” Unfortunatly there is no such thing anywhere that says View Option so it’s impossible to continue. So instead I go to the content manager and try to continue the tutorial. So then it says “search for Landscape_Material” and once again there is no such thing called Landscape_Material. So I decide to use a random material from the choices provided and I add it to my landscape. Next it says I will need to create a Landscape Layer Info for each Target Layer that I have. Of course there are no target layers and the next step requires me to press on the plus sign that is to the right of the magnifying glass which can’t be done since there are no target layers at all. So at this point I am just completly lost on how to finish this tutorial and that is why I am writing to you guys to fix it.

It shouldn’t be this difficult to paint on top of a landscape, but with all the missing stuff in the tutorial it makes it rather impossible.

So please fix the tutorial so that us new people can learn how to use your amazing software!

View Option is in Content Browser > Bottom right corner. That should let you continue the tutorial once you find the landscape material in the engine folder. If not, post the link to the tutorial and i’ll try to help you out.

Epic is aware that some things are missing and need updates in the documentations and they are working on them. In the meantime feel free to ask questions whenever you get stuck.

I’m trying to do the tutorial now in September 2015 and it is indeed broken. Lanscape_Material does not exist anywhere in any folder and there are no hourglass icons or layer options that these pointless instructional windows keep referring to. It is extremely frustrating that I can’t even paint terrain terrain in an intuitive way with this engine.

It’s 2019… That was soo frustrating trying to find that + sign and magnifying glass… fixing tutorials would be a great thing.
