Trying to migrate map file from one project to another.

Hi, I was trying to make a new map on UEFN when I didnt realize I was creating the new map inside of a pre-existing project. Migrating the map file doesn’t seem to fix the issue, I was wondering what I’m doing wrong. I have already made some progress and was hoping I don’t have to start from scratch. The issue is that whenever I open the project, it opens my old world, and I can’t access the new one. I also dont want the old one on top of the new one, and instead have them both in seperate projects, thanks!

Hi Mystical, Welcome to the Forums.

Just to check: Are you using the Right-Click on Level → Asset Actions → ‘Migrate’ function? (As opposed to manually migrating by moving the files)

You could also try copy/pasting things in your level between projects. (Protip: After ‘copying’ a selection of assets, paste the result into a text editor to see what’s being stored/passed)

Hi I just worked on a map and wanted to publish it privately but every time I try to do so I get this error message ‘’ [AssetLog] /MyProjectF/GameFeatureData : Soft references /MyProjectF/MyProjectF that do not exist. (AssetValidator_AssetReferenceRestrictions) ‘’ and ‘’ [AssetLog] /MyProjectF/GameFeatureData : Referenced /MyProjectF/MyProjectF that does not exist. (FortValidator_IllegalReferences) ‘’ I would be very happy if someone could help me, I have put so much time into it, it would be stupid if it all has to go.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply. I have used the migrate tool and copy and pasting the assets, but no luck. I will try it again when I get the chance so I can see if I did something wrong. Is there anything else that could work?

I guess the issue fixed itself, I am not sure what happened, but I reopened the project the next day and it transferred.

Glad to hear you got it working.

Hi Ehren, it might have been better to create a new topic. BUT your problem could be solved with migrating assets.

It looks like it’s complaining about ‘GameFeatureData’ file. This file should exist in your ‘ProjectF Content’ folder - If it doesn’t right-click and add a Miscellaneous → DataAsset → Select Game Feature Data Asset as the type to create. (If you do have one maybe try creating a new one?)

If that doesn’t help, migrating your map to a new project could be a path forward.

Hey Astrotronic thanks for your answer but unfortunately I really don’t know anything about this could you explain it to me in more detail.

Hi Ehren,

I think it would be best for you to create a new topic/issue about this. Be sure to include the full error log.
