Trying to make a larger world..

Hey, I’m attempting to create a map that resembles a longer strip of land instead of a traditional square shape. However, I’ve encountered limitations with the world borders. Is there a way to expand or adjust these borders? Thanks!

Is that the ocean borders or the limit on the amount of lanscape components ?

the actual ocean borders.

Cool, and you don’t have to keep it a square either, it can be made into a rectangle to suit your project.

3 things to change

In the Ocean settings, you can filter to them by typing “extents”

Change the Ocean Extents, this refers to one of the yellow borders and represents the area of ocean that gets wave effects,
You want it bigger than your island by maybe 20,000 or 32,000 all round, so if your island is 16,000x64,000 make your ocean extents 80,000 and 128,000.

The other ocean setting, Collision Extents, is the other yellow border, to make it the same size as ocean extents, use half the ocean extent value, like 40,000 and 64,000

The last bit is to change the Waterzone, which is not in the Ocean settings, but in the Outliner, make its Zone Extents the same as the Ocean Extents, say 80,000 and 128,000.

These will not block the player so use Barriers for that.

oh wow, thanks a lot!

hey, dont mind the silly question, but where abouts can i find the ocean settings in order to change the borders? Im fairly new to uefn and cant find anything on the topic haha…

The Outliner on the right has all the things currently on your map listed in it,
You can type in ocean in the filter up top. Then you can select it from there, but it will be quicker to click on the actual ocean in the main window.
The details panel, where all the settings for selected stuff shows up, is below the Outliner, usually bottom right window.

ah ive found it, thanks a lot!

hey, last thing sorry, is there a way to use the terrain mode outside of the landscape barrier? thanks

Don’t be sorry, helping out with this stuff is one of my little pleasures in life.

Let me know if this is not what your asking…

I’m not quite sure I get your meaning as the landscape has no barrier only a limit to the amount of landscape squares (landscape components),
I assume your referring to the edges of the landscape you’ve generated.

The landscape tools are a bit buggy at the moment

What you can do is use Landscape Mode - Manage Tab to add landscape components if you haven’t exceeded the limit.
Sometimes it throws the limit error and you can’t add landscape components.

Deleting landscape components in landscape mode doesn’t work properly, but they can be deleted by going back to selection mode and selecting the individual components in main viewport or by selecting them in the Outliner.

Even if it does throw the warning, you can create a new Landscape in Landscape Mode - Manage, I’ve got a project using 4 seperate landscape areas, but I’ve hit the limit and can’t make any more.
When sculpting or painting, you’ve got to select the landscape you want to work on in the drop down menu just below the sculpt & paint tabs.

If you need more landscape than what you can generate, I think another thing to do could be to increase the scale of the landscape parent (the root of the landscape components).

I just meant when i use the landscape mode in uefn to generate hills and such, theres another barrier that i cant seem to find in order to adjust it where i cant seem to use the tool past it.

That could be you need to switch landscapes to the one you want to work with, see the dropdown menu under Landscape Editor
