Hi, I have a project in mind, and in my mind it is pretty unique and awesome, of course…
Im brand new to unreal, so Im not sure if this is even the place to ask my question - But I am looking for someone that has the skill and talent to talk with me and point me in the right direction
I have absolutely zero experience with creating anything, and my first step is to try and find someone I can talk to about it, to see if it is infact even doable
It is more app than game - and have come to Unreal as I understand the graphics are the best
I would like it to be available in mobile format and PC
I am looking at a realistic look (slightly fantasy/magical)
Setting is in the forest, with some buildings
Utilising meta humans/AI bots within the scenes
There are a number of elements to it (Different scenes, different humans/characters)
Is there anyone that I could chat with that knows this stuff? Be able to talk me through it?
Id be looking at crowdfunding the project, with Rev share opportunities - It would be an absolute passion project for me…So keen to connect with others that dream big, and want to change the world, of course
Hope to talk soon

Describe your idea better, current description is not enough.
However:
- few metahuman characters like 2-3 are doable with some smart optimization even on mobile
- forrest and those metahumans maybe but it can be pushing mobiles (mostly textures size).
- yes ai is doable with stuff like state trees.
- however thing to remember: each new character, each different tree or house/furniture means 3-4 new textures, and mobiles do not have resources to run such stuff. Also there is limit of app size for ios and android.
Depends on which mobile phones you target. A modern iPhone, Pixel, or Galaxy can easily swallow several thousands of 1k textures, and because the screen is so small, you seldom need more than that.
You get two 1k texture in one MB of RAM, and modern 8 GB and larger phones have 8000 MB of RAM (although clearly, you need some of that for code and logic and sounds and such – so, maybe half?)
8000 1k textures in 4 GB of RAM. Or 2000 2k textures, if you think anyone will see that on a 6" screen…
Thanks @jwatte and @Nawrot
Ok, so it might make it harder for ppl to access as an app then…Really would like it easy to access
Would it work better on a platform/website? GUess they could access from phone or pc
Just trying to find a workable solution, without compromising the quality of the graphics and information
You are working on two fundamentally different axes.
If you want the graphics to be interactive and awesome, you will need to exclude people with weaker devices.
If you want everyone to be able to see/use your thing, you will have to design it to look simpler, or you can pre-render videos and then not worry about interactivity.
But, given that you haven’t even said what you’re trying to build, it’s impossible to give any real guidance.
A frequent concern among people who haven’t previously worked in creative arts is that “someone will steal my idea,” and thus they don’t share enough of the idea to enable other people to help (or even “buy in” to the idea) and thus it never goes anywhere.
Everybody has their own ideas; if they had the time and resources to execute, that’s what they would be working on, not someone else’s idea!
The reality is that ideas have no value on their own – essentially only execution matters. And even the best ideas, typically will be tested and modified during execution before they are unleashed on the public, so whatever comes out, will very seldom be exactly what the initial vision said. And that’s OK – that’s the creative process!
Some more reading:
(And note in the last one, what they actually stole were executed ideas out of CAD, not just the word description, and it still wasn’t a problem.)
And what IT is, really without any idea about what you are doing you already got as much answers as possible.
And for giggles:
No mmoRPG with distributed (p2p) servers, crossplay (android, steam deck, ios, xbox, ps1 ps2 ps3 ps4 ps5, lunax, desktop PC) that use VR, and has dinosaurs with jetpacks, nope this idea will not work.
