Alright so I apologize in advance if my post seems all over the place, I’m just going to type out the issue I’m facing, and below that everything that I’ve tried thus far. Thank you for your patience!
So I’ve been creating characters for UE for some time now, I can create, rig, animate etc. The only thing I haven’t been able to do, is create a piece of cloth for a character I’m making. I have tried it several different ways, but no matter what either the cloth piece doesn’t come in with the character, or it wont let me select it to make the cloth data to paint it with.
Alright so for starters:
- I make my character base in CC4
- I sculpt him in ZBrush, Also sculpted a chain to hold the Loincloth
At this point, I can bring my character and the Chain belt I made into UE5 just fine.
- I then export the FBX, and open it in blender to create the Loincloth
- Make simple plane Loincloth and sculpt it into place.
Now at this point, I have tried it both with Exporting everything from Blender with the Loincloth not attached to the hierarchy, as well as I tried exporting it with the Loincloth “Joined” to the character Mesh.
Without it joined to the mesh, Both the Chain and the Loincloth DON’T come in on import to UE. (Keep in mind I never touched the Chain in blender but it was highlighted on export)
With the Loincloth joined to the Mesh. I import it back into UE and it brings in the Char Mesh, The Loin Cloth, but NO CHAIN- And when I go to select the Loincloth to make the cloth asset for painting, it also highlights the head of my character, and I’m unable to select anything to paint in the outliner on the left.
I’ve looked at the UE documentation, I’ve tried following all the videos I can find. But none seem to cover the actual part of how you apply it to the character model, export them etc to bring into UE before painting the cloth piece for Chaos physics. That portion it seems everyone is expected to know?
I would greatly appreciate some guidance on this. I’m open to one on one walkthrough as well so I can get this working! I would also even like to create a start to finish video walkthrough on how this is done once someone has been able to help me get this going!
Thank you for reading and I hope to hear back from someone with help ASAP!
