I installed the Paragon Decker character into my project and exported the mesh as an FBX file. I then imported it into Blender 3D to remove the weapon and to also re-orient the bones of the skeleton to match the convention used by Blender. I re-imported the modified mesh back into UE4. It looks just fine. It’s the Paragon character with no weapon.
I then tried to re-target the idle animation from the original Paragon character to the modified version. The first problem was the rig was missing a lot of the bones. So I created I new rig which has all the bones. Next, I matched the base poses as required. I then hit the re-target button. What I got was a mess. The mesh exploded. I’ve done this before using the mannequin and it worked just fine. I’m not sure why this isn’t working with the paragon character. Any ideas?
