I’m trying to develop a workflow for using a Trimble X7, GNSS, Trimble Realworks, and UAV photogrammetry together in RC, but I am running into a problem with the import of a fully-registered e57.
I have a single fully registered and cleaned e57 of the neighborhood that is around 112M points and exported from TRW with intensity and colorization. After import into RC and hitting the Align command, there’s virtually nothing displayed in the 3D window and any attempts to align a previously-reconstructed photogrammetry project fails when following the published tutorial.
can you please contact our support (support@capturingreality.com) with this problem. It seems, that not all scan position were used in RC and we will need analyze this file.
I´m using Trimble TX8, which creates also TZF files from the scans and my workaround is going via Trimble Business Center as you can choose there when exporting to E57 wheter normal one or “structured” E57, which seems to be the one that RC supports.
In TRW, the export needs to be done from the Registration mode. After selecting the entire project (or group of scans to export), the Export > Convert TZF Scans of Selected Stations option gives the ability to export PTX files that RC accepts with correct orientation.
To get a cleaned or segmented set of stations to go to RC, one needs to use the cleaned and classified cloud and Create TZF Scans. Then you can go back to the registration tab, select the group of newly-created scan stations, and use the above method. Now if I can just get it to align to the photogrammetry and GNSS control, I’ll be set.
