Tree "The Rabbit Hole" 3D scan

I was walking with my wife Josi and my dog, Sherlock, when we saw this tree — and my 3D-artist brain immediately went:
“This would make a great 3D scan!”

The weather had been overcast for a couple of days in my city, which is perfect for photogrammetry.
I captured 311 photos on day one, but I wanted more detail, so I went back the next day and shot another 275 photos.

I didn’t have a professional camera with me, so I used my iPhone 11 with the Adobe Lightroom app, shooting everything in RAW.

The results?
In just 18 minutes, I was able to create this 3D scan locally using RealityScan 2.1 on my Dell Pro Max Tower T2, powered by an NVIDIA RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell with 96GB of VRAM.

The 3D scan has 36.9M tris and an 8K texture.

I’m calling this tree “The Rabbit Hole.”
Now I want to bring it into a full 3D environment.

Thanks for watching!

Nicely done! 586 out of 586, I actually thought you would lose a few images in the hole.

Thanks! Yeah me too, but I think the GPS coordinates helped to align all the pics.
