Hello everyone! After over two months of effort, my new short film Tree of Life is finally online, just in time before the arrival of the new year!
Looking back on this year, I’ve completed a total of six short films—proof that the year wasn’t wasted. I want to take a moment to thank Unreal Engine for giving me the opportunity to bring my vision to life. It’s incredible to be able to step into the role of a director, even from my own small corner of the world.
Thank you all for your continued support, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Congratulations on the release of Tree of Life! It’s amazing to see your hard work pay off, especially with six short films completed this year! Unreal Engine has clearly been a great tool for bringing your vision to life. I’m excited to watch your new film and can’t wait to hear more about your creative journey in the future. Wishing you continued success in the new year!
@stive322jack Thank you all for your support and for appreciating my work! I’m committed to working even harder next year to bring more ideas to life. Cheers!
Just wanted to pop in and say this film was such an awesome watch. It felt imaginative, impactful, and truly thought provoking. I just wanted to watch more! So cool that you were able to make this in such a short amount of time. Did anything specific inspire this film or was it just pure imagination?
@PresumptivePanda Thank you so much for your kind words! For this film, I started with some teachings I’ve learned from Tao and thought about how to weave them into a story. I went through the assets in my Unreal Engine library to see what environments I had available. When I came across the modular building set, the idea of a post-apocalyptic story began to take shape. It reminded me of the movie I Am Mother (2019) and The Last of Us. The themes of Tao teachings seemed to fit perfectly with that setting, and from there, the story naturally developed. Thank you again for your support—it means a lot!
I totally got The Last Of Us vibes but didn’t want to nerd out randomly in your project thread Do you currently plan on making any more short films in the near future or are you taking a break after this one?
HI @PresumptivePanda Thanks for asking! For now, I think I’ll take a couple of months to relax and let the next story come to me—kind of waiting for that “lightbulb” moment in my heart, . Unreal Engine feels like an endless ocean, and I’ve only touched the tip of the waves so far. There’s still so much to learn, and I’m excited to keep exploring it!
A break just in time for the holidays is always a good idea Hopefully all the Christmas cheer refills those creative thoughts that evade us sometimes. I truly can’t wait to see your next piece of art
