In recent 4.3 update my trackpad on my macbook pro started behaving differently in UE4 (OSX version).
Previously it would operate as a right click drag, rotating view and so forth.
Since update it counts as a middle click drag, causing view to pan.
Also while running UE4 in windows via bootcamp right click dragging does not work at all.
In practical terms this makes UE4 unusable without plugging in a mouse, which is a real pain and impractical at times when I want to get something done quickly.
This is a pretty major workflow issue for me now. Is there a setting I can use to change this behaviour in OSX and also to fix trackpad input for windows?
In 4.3, two-finger dragging in viewport should rotate view, and two-finger + click dragging should pan. It should match what occurs with a mouse. There was a change in how trackpad responds within EventGraph for sub-editors, but that shouldn’t affect your viewport navigation.
What OSX version are you using? What are your system specs? Does this occur in every project, including a new project?
Running in Bootcamp may not be officially supported by us. I don’t know whether Windows reads gestures on a Mac trackpad through Bootcamp. I’ll double check with developers and let you know, but that may just not be something you can do.
We haven’t heard from you in awhile, so I’m going to mark this post as resolved for tracking purposes. If issue still occurs for you in 4.3, please respond to questions I asked above. Thanks!
Sorry to revive a long resolved topic but just wanted to jump in and confirm that two-finger click drag to pan does NOT work in 4.7 under latest Bootcamp drivers and Windows 8.1
While I understand us bootcamp users are very much a niche user group, it’d be nice to not have to carry around a mouse with our Macbooks to do anything involving a Blueprint window.
Note I have tried disabling two-finger secondary click and had no luck.
Only a few gestures are supported in Boot Camp. Which are you trying to use? If you click with 1 finger and then place a second finger down, you should be able to pan viewport that way, but if you place both fingers down at once it won’t work (it’ll think you’re using secondary click).
We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so we’re resolving this post again. Please feel free to comment with information requested above, and we’ll continue investigating. Thanks!
