Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Moving mouse around in editor pops up bogus tooltips that don’t go away and show up on top of other apps and other apps on other desktops. The attached images show one that is in UE4EDITOR and Firefox (any application I run will have it on top of it). Not all tooltips do this but it happens a lot and I can’t get rid of it.
Hey coosadog-
I removed the screenshot from the post due to content. Please answer the following questions to help me understand your issue.
- Are you using Alt+Tab to switch from your UE window to another window?
- If you’re seeing this with specific tooltips, can you identify which tooltips have caused this?
- Does this behavior only occur in a specific project or do you see the same issue in a new project as well?
Any information you can provide to help me reproduce the behavior on my end will help in investigating the issue.
Haha! Sorry about that content. I didn’t even see it! Thanks for your response. It doesn’t matter how I switch between windows. The artifact remains there across workspaces too. It also happens on a lot of different tooltips. Sometimes they work correctly and other times they’ll have junk in them and are stuck on the screen. Content, inside the Content Browser will mess up like that and I have to get tooltip text on something somewhere else to clear it up. It’s pretty random and I don’t think it’s any specific one. Maybe it’s rendering? My video card is a GTX 730 with 4gb of memory. This is pretty annoying. There’s an artifact right in front of me while I type this… See attached…
I don’t know if this is related. I went to Import in Content Browser and navigated to the folder that contains the .fbx files and it shows nothing there. I’m attaching that screen and the file browser screen showing the contents of that folder.
No, not related. The extension is uppercase and the filter doesn’t have one that’s uppercase for .fbx files… sorry… Someone should fix the filter, I think…
Hey coosadog-
Sorry for the delayed response, are you still seeing the tooltip windows appearing on top of other windows? I have not yet been able to reproduce this behavior on my end. Can you try updating your video drivers to see if that helps? Also if possible, let me know you see this behavior with another engine version (4.13 or 4.15 branches from GitHub).
Yeppo, pretty delayed. I gave up on UE4 and have moved on to another engine. I was very disappointed that it wouldn’t work on Ubuntu. Good luck with it. Merry Christmas!
