I’m creating a tool that procedural generates walkable buildings for a project of mine. It generates also rooms inside the building for each floor, the option to create stairways to the next level and many other things.
My question is: Would you have use for such a tool? And what would you expect from such a tool if you would buy it on the UE Marketplace?
Please let me know how I can improve my tool and what I might missed in my thoughts.
Just give me an idea of what you would like to have or expect if someone would provide such a tool.
There are already a few plug-ins that does procedural generation. Just searching for “procedural” on the Unreal Engine marketplace resulted in 481 products.
I think I speak for most people when I say that we all appreciate competition for growth and want more content. However, this isn’t perhaps something that is super sought after or will sell many copies unless you find a great way to market it.
If you want inspiration, look at your competition from the Unreal Engine Marketplace and other sources. I also believe this post would benefit more from being posted in the Discussion part of this forum.
thank you for your answer. But be sure, I was searching for a tool like that. And you’re right: There are many tools who did something “procedural”. But most of them are for landscapes and foliage, or they generate buidlings, but I didn’t found any who generates WALKABLE buildings.
Right now my tool generates buildings with customizable sizes in X and Y and as many floors as you like. All floors has rooms and every one is reachable through doors, the floors are reachable by stairs.
thanks a lot for posting this asset! It’s amazing!!! I will have it on my list for further projects.
For my actual project it is more like shooting with a cannon at a fly, but WOW!
It does for buidlings all the things I want to achieve with my tool!
And for your last part: Yes, I’m new at UE - which doesn’t mean, that I’m new to programming. And yes: I’m just at the very beginning of my tool, but it is stable right now. All I wanted to know if there is any needing for such a “light”-Version of generating buildings without manually create them. But this one you posted here is outstanding!
