TM just mixed the materials of 3 different objects and messed up my scene, is there a way to completely unlink objects from their materials?

I have a big scene and was adjusting a recent imported object to the right scale, then used the Material Picker to see how differently scaled the UVs were. Decided to try a different material and that's when things went south.

I have no idea what happened, this is completely new to me. It appears that drag-dropping the new material into the new object and flying over other objects messed everything up for some reason, and that's definitely not the first time I do something like this.

I've dragged materials through a lot of objects to get to a very specific one.

Is there a way to completely unlink an objects materials? Has this happened to anyone else?
