Tips for creating rigged 1P character meshes the proper way (using makehuman)

I’ve always worked in 3rd person, or vehicle based games. I’m now trying to learn some first person stuff for a project and I’m having problems getting nice looking characters into UE4.

Are there any guidelines when creating a mesh for first person? So far I just take a regular proportioned body, delete the head and do my animations but unless I really go to extreme amounts of effort to “force” the characters arms into the cameras view the animations play without being seen on stock FOV.

It got alittle better when I made my character something like 120cm tall from feet to neck.

I’m just looking to replace the 1ptemplate char with a mesh from makehuman so that I can animate it with Rigify and Blender; I have that workflow down but cant figure out how to get nice looking animations that are realistic looking and not like a guy is twisting his broken arm into the cameras view.

are you trying to have it so you see the arms at all times? or is it like when you sprint/ are holding a weapon you still dont see the hands unless the animations are extremely dramatized?
