TI is calling for everyone to review bomb UE5 games. I think he's gone too far this time.

For those unaware, Threat Interactive (Kevin J) is a YouTuber who claims to be able to make a new rendering fork of UE if his followers generously donate 900K to his cause.

He’s also claimed to be developing a game, only to recently state he is no longer doing so because the Engine will not cater to his needs for graphical performance.

For the most part, he is just an annoyance, constantly rage-baiting gamers by bashing Unreal Engine in every video, every comment section, and every forum.

However, in Discord, it was brought to my attention that in his latest video, he has been mobilizing a community of gamers ( who have no idea what it takes to use the engine, let alone develop in it) to actively review bomb every last UE5 game they find.

That’s not a protest, that’s a call to action to troll UE5 developers.

To me, this seems like it’s crossing a line, and the grifter may be opening up “his company” to a class action lawsuit if he succeeds in causing developers financial damages.

Here is the video where he makes this call to action with time stamp: 24:30 in.

Lies. Our website stated we were never asking for donations for 900k & the massive amount of time R&D required the fix the engine cannot be completed by a team can’t financially support such development.

He’s also claimed to be developing a game

Lies again,we paused our production.
Nice of you to ignore the massive amount of data & proof showing how much worse unreal is than other engines.

To support our message vote this topic here: NEW(3/22/2024) UE5.5+ Feedback: Please Invest In Actual PERFORMANCE Innovations Beyond Frame Smearing For Actual GAMES.

Unreal is still saturated with TAA dependent effects. Your vote shows Epic you don’t want these kind of graphics.

I’ve got historical receipts, bud.

Now show the part below that was cropped out:

As explained here: https://youtu.be/UHBBzHSnpwA?t=463

I’ve got historical receipts, bud.

You clearly don’t because you would have a print out of the entire page and just want to leave out the part where we said we want to show our game more before crowdfunding. Since then we’ve announced a proprietary plan.

Not cropped out, taken before you modified it. The internet is forever, Kevin.

modified it

Prove it. Show the whole site with the scrollbar visible.

Our site doesn’t even match the image we posted which means that was the original.

@TheKJ out of interest can you provide the information about your company as I cannot seem to find the registration.

not crowdfunding..meanwhile posting how people can help you crowdfund via superchat XD You can’t be THAT dumb bro. Crowdfunding is crowdfunding is crowdfunding, doesn’t matter how you collect, a dollar is always green bud.

”Announced a Proprietary Plan”

Just say a plan, whats proprietary? that you came up with the plan.

The problem is simple. When all you do is hate on something, people just tune out. Its why you’ve been losing viewers. Delicious to see by the way. The jig is up, people know your game. They know your videos = UE hate, and everyone already knows the big things. What are you gonna do? Talk about Anti-Aliasing bad for the 100th time? Your content is the same slop in new giftwrap.

The irony is your channel would probably grow exponentially, and you would heal your own image by yes, still making criticisms, but offering work arounds, showing how you’re tackling these issues in your own game but you wont, because you cant, so you’re left yelling at the wind hoping to capture an audience that already came and went

we can see the differences of the website on the wayback machine, you ask for donations

**
This is our crowdfunding page to raise our non-profit funds for fixing Unreal Engine 5.**

Our goal is to raise 900K to pay a team of graphic programmers to modify Unreal’s source code. Including more optimized effects that take full advantage of the environmental properties most games ship with as well as better Anti-Aliasing options/accessibility.

We are dead serious about making sure all new software integrated & paid for by your contribution resolves independently of blurry TAA or upscalers.

Once a single change is made, our UE5 branch will always be accessible to all developers so that all studios and gamers can reap the benefits of our accomplishments immediately.

People haven’t forgotten about this toxic pretender yet? Just ignore him, people will get bored of all the technical word soup targeting naive gamers (as in, they just want to play games, no tangible experience in developing them) and beginner or non-skilled indies/hobbyists. The only affect TI is having, is making actual developers (both professional and hobbyist) chuckle or get annoyed. Like a child that incessitenly makes a high pitched annoying noise, and only gets louder when you ask them to stop.

Everybody knows they utilize questionable approaches to make others look bad, play the victim, the whole copyright strike stuff, avoid any real conversations, avoids answering questions, aren’t willing to show any tangible contribution, bla bla bla. They’re just persistent. I personally think something is wrong with them upstairs - that’s not a jab, it really seems like something unhealthy is going on and I hope they find help and can move on to more positive and happier endeavors. I feel bad for all the others they are misleading, and turning negative (toward the engine, and just in general).

There is no point in shouting into that echo chamber. I mean, we all have better things to do. Just let them do their thing, and eventually pitter out as a footnote. Putting any energy and emotional bandwidth toward that scene is akin to letting your day be ruined by an ant moving a few grains of sand around. Sure the sand is in your yard, but does it really matter or affect you?

I wish you well, Kevin. I hope you’re okay, and I hope you’re not setting yourself up for trouble that could ruin any potential you have in life. You’re still pretty young and naive, so maybe shift your energy toward more honest, positive, and fruitful activities. It’s your life of course, but I mean… your current path is pretty icky, and people on the level can see right through it all :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

@TheKJ I honestly can’t believe you think it’s ok to actively encourage your viewers to review bomb every UE5 game on Steam. What an awful thing to do.

Your actions directly impact small indie developers, many of whom are treading a very fine line between success and failure. You should be supporting your fellow developers, not attacking them.
