Throxel - Virtual Projector — Projection Previsualization

Plan and preview video projection directly inside Unreal Engine.

Virtual Projector by THROXEL helps you explore projector models, compatible lenses and placement on your own 3D geometry before arriving at the venue. Preview multiple projectors with independent content, adjust their optics and inspect how the projection interacts with your scene.

KEY FEATURES

• Projector and lens catalogue featuring Panasonic, Epson, Barco, Christie and configurable Generic equipment.
• Manual placement using Unreal Engine’s transform tools, with zoom, lens shift, geometric and blending adjustment controls.
• Multiple projectors with independent test patterns, images and compatible media inputs.
• Automated Capture and NDI sources discovery and connection through Unreal Engine’s NDI Media plugin.
• Built-in test patterns for checking framing, alignment and coverage.
• Projector housing and optional rigging-frame visualization.
• Dedicated editor panel with grouped controls and an Add Virtual Projector toolbar button.
• Example scenes, including a projection studio with truss stands, materials and fixed exposure.
• Quick-start documentation.

YOUR SCENE, YOUR SETUP

Import your venue or use existing Unreal geometry, place the projectors manually and assign content to each one. Compatible NDI senders can supply live video to the scene.

This plugin focuses on manual projection previsualization. Automatic projector-array calculation, automatic blending and mask generation, surface generators and THROXEL Technical Export are not included.

REQUIREMENTS

Unreal Engine 5.8 on Windows 64-bit. Media support depends on the enabled Unreal media backends; NDI requires compatible sender software and network configuration.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Optical and brightness estimates, housing geometry, focus and distortion previews are planning aids. They do not replace manufacturer specifications, calibration or on-site testing.

The validated workflow is the Unreal Editor. Packaged-game deployment. NDI uses an experimental Unreal integration.
