G’day,
Very new to RC, just posting my recent work.
Not sure if someone else has run into this issue yet, I’m getting a plethora of holes in my 3D model. I believe it’s because it’s a thin object. I’m using a DJI M3T wide camera (1/2-inch CMOS, Effective pixels: 48 MP).
To anyone who reads this, what are your thoughts? Should I take my photos? Is it a reflective surface? any response is greatly appreciated
You can probably fix this with higher precision by taking the photos closer, the holes in thin objects are caused by the internal mesh and the exterior mesh intersecting. The closer you get to the object the more precise the scan.
G’day @ZacD,
I did try the masking method and it did yield better results!
However there are still holes, I believe I will try some photoshop + blender tactics.
Though this could have been solved if I took more and closer photos, have learnt this for next time!
I see, the external + internal meshes clashing does make sense. Seems like a difficult problem to solve with just photogrammetry. I imagine LiDAR would be very effective here, though that is costly, something for the future.
I think I will take closer and more photos for better results. As they say, garbage in, garbage out.
