Hey guys, been taking my assets from Blender into Unreal Engine for rendering. I am a concept artist so I just need a decent realistic base to paint over and Unreal 5 has been absolutely amazing for this purpose. I wish I could upload the short video that includes the Unreal part here but as a new user I can’t so I will just leave some links:
Greetings @alksndrkili !
Welcome to the Unreal Engine community!
What you have accomplished is unprecedented! I have never seen, thus far, any concept artist build a scene in UE and texture the final product to look as though it was painted or drawn. I am utterly amazed!
Seeing what you did with the cow was mind-blowing for me! My experience with gaming development has only been 2D. I was so inspired by your video montage!
How did you come to learn about Unreal Engine, and what prompted the idea that you could use UE’s powerful capability to create your concept art?
Hey, thanks so much for the warm welcome! I’m looking forward to getting active here and diving deeper into Unreal.
I was always somewhat familiar with it but didn’t see any use case for concept artists and designers, but once Nanite and Lumen came out it was just absolutely clear to me that realtime rendering in Unreal was going to be the future. It’s really at a point now where its about as good as offline rendering but somehow caters even more to artists because you see the results instantly. I think with time more and more people are going to realize that there’s really no reason to build your scene anywhere else
