The Zeus: Giant Battleship made in UEFN

For a little less than a week now, I’ve been working on a new project just for fun. I decided I was going to make a warship as large and detailed as I could with the tools UEFN has to offer.

I modeled it after the battleship Yamato, the pinnacle and pride of the Japanese fleet of World War II. It was the largest battleship ever built, in terms of both size and firepower. Now it sits at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean though, having been sunk near the end of the war.

Obviously, it’s not an exact replica of the Yamato; I decided to add my own cyber-flair to it, mostly because I wanted to, but partly because the props were already there for things like the guns and control consoles, making that route easier than building my own large props with smaller props.

My model is built to approximately full-scale of the original, being 261m long and 35m wide, so it’s life-size compared to the player. I made it using all-Fortnite building parts and props, so for the most part, it still abides to the 5.12x5.12x3.84m cell divisions of Fortnite, meaning that it’s compatible with builds.

It’s still very incomplete compared with how much I plan to add to it; right now it’s just a hollow shell with literally nothing on the inside. I plan to build a full interior to my own design, using only a small amount of historical accuracy. I also may add more weapons to the exterior to make it look like the late-war version of the original ship instead of the as-built version.

I’m trying to brainstorm ideas for a game mode to actually use it in. I’m thinking about maybe doing a gun-game or FFA where players get to vote on which part of the ship to play on, since it’s too big to have the whole thing open to play on for that kind of game. I also thought about having a free-roam mode (I’m not sure to have combat or not though) since I thought most players would want to just explore a project of this magnitude.

So without boring you with more history or descriptions, here’s pictures of the current, though unfinished, Zeus.

Feel free to share any ideas or suggestions!
