Preordered this morning. Started the preloading from and it was at 7% in the 20 minutes before I left the house. I hope it sped up for you guys, may of been a flux of traffic.

jealous of all the people on twitch playing the game already. I didn’t dare watch though, i don’t want anything spoiled xD Haven’t even watch any more of the gameplay videos past the first one :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t be jealous, there’s some magic in waiting for something like that =)
How did they get the game by the way? It leaked?

Tons of shady stores in lots of countries have started selling copies before launch. Who would have thought that the biggest danger with DRM free is not the pirates, it’s actually the big established “respectable” stores that sell the game.

Gotta say that I’m impressed by the speeds of GOG’s servers. They’re way smaller than Steam and haven’t really released games this hyped on launch before. Downloaded at a steady 11 MB/s.

OMG… this game is going to be super …

Pleasantly surprised to see it’s being released in Europe on the 19th. That means 5pm on the 28th for me (8 hours from now).

It is entirely possible that someone already posted this, but I don’t recall seeing it in this thread. Just in case no one has seen it, here you go.

I thought it’s still 1h left till it gets released?

Edit: Ok now it’s out. Let’s jump right into the fun

Can we talk about how this game gets such great performance with really heavy & dense foliage (especially grass) with wind and touch bending AND long draw distances on ULTRA along with everything else going on including the insane looking water!?

Anything special witcher3 engine is doing for foliage performance that we dont have in 4.8?
From my experiments with larger dense foliage scenes if I were to try similar it seems my fps would be lower than witchers unless i’m wrong?

I played as soon as I got home yesterday and was surprised how well optimized the game is. It’s also the first AAA game I’ve seen to make use of SLI so well. I have SLI 780s and it was using only 2%-4% less on the 2nd card than the main, both of them averaging around 92% and 90%. Those Nvidia hairworks physics seem like framerate suicide though, but I leave it on for at least. I’m most impressed in the shadows. Overlapping shadows don’t cause the shadows to be darker like in most games, which gives it so much more realism.

Edit: I haven’t had time to mess with the engine, but after playing Witcher 3 I may dabble in it a bit in my free time.

Copy of the game, collectible edition for Xbox One for Obama (our president got PC version :p) is already waiting for him in Polish president house:

Big question is who will give it to him… since we got elections this weekend XD Our president als joke that he gonna play during electional scilence (in your country it is prohibited to agitate day before and during election until election committees are closed, so campaigns end on Friday)

The game is ! Unfortunately I’m just abel to play it with “middle” graphic settings :frowning:

So I didn’t get the collectors edition but I might make these when I get a little spare time. The printouts are included in the bonus content in the version of the game. I’m not sure if it comes with the steam version.

Yeah, this game is pretty demanding and has the highest minimum requirements I’ve ever seen. Makes we question whether I can up my targeted platform. Nvidia did a pretty good write up on the difference between all the different graphics settings here. The hairworks on enemies is phenomenal. It’s really cool to see it implemented in a game instead of just a tech demo (I think Farcry had something similar too).

I got it from steam, CE was sold out.
But so far game is great and i will get CE anyway when they release second batch of boxes.

I believe Tomb Raider (the ) was the first game that had it, but I believe it started out as just being called hair physics or something of the sort and then evolved into being it’s own thing and got dubbed ‘Hairworks’.

Tomb raider used TressFx by amd not nvidia hairworks, didnt they? Which some people tell me is better not exactly sure why though

I can’t see the hype, the writing was so bad with the first and second Witcher, I had to stop playing. Normally, I would just look past that and have fun, but this transcended poorly written. I wondered if I was reading some sort of unfamiliar self-aware fan-fiction at points.

I find this ironic coming from someone that seems to like my little pony. But to each their own.
I think the writing is way better than a lot of other popular, similar games out there so I enjoyed it.

On another note though. I was really surprised with the peformance of Witcher 3. Ultra with AA and everything, even Hairworks and I get between 45 and 65 FPS on a single lousy GTX 970 at 1920x1200 resolution.
