I bought all the DLC at once for ~$15 and it was not a bad deal. Of course, Shivering Isles was the real deal with Oblivion. Better main quest than the main game for sure.

When is Witcher 3 supposed to be released?

I have a weird thing where I can’t reasonably play first or third person games if the character can’t jump in game. So I never did finish The Witcher 2. But The Witcher 3 has jumping confirmed! Heck yeah.

Played the first one a long time ago, loved it. Haven’t played a lot of games in awhile and it’s amazing to see The Witcher’s progress, I feel like the games are a little underrated.

I would suggest playing through the other games, but if you enjoy reading as a hobby, you should at least read the first couple of books in the series. Yennefer is a very important character to the series and has been talked about in the first two a lot, but never shown. She will be in this one from what we’ve seen so far and the books go into detail about how Yennefer and met. None of it is required, but it makes the experience more enjoyable if you have the backstory.
