Hello, my viewport 1 window and my landscape editor are not appearing when I click them. I just get a blank screen with the other editors on the side. I installed a volumetrics plugin and then uninstalled it as well as reinstalling Unreal 5.3.2 and nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
it sounds like you closed the given Window
probably by hitting this “X” (boxed in red below) on the given Window
at some point closing it, or this plugin closed the Window which should be reported separately as that should be unintended behavior to modify the users Layout without consent.
if this is the case it “should be solvable easily”
open your Window
menu (boxed in blue above) and go down to the respective section and click to open it.
- these layouts are unique per Editor Section/Context, so you will probably have to do this for both your Level Context, and your Landscape Editor Context.
you can even go down to Load Layout
and select Default Layout
to go back to the Layout the Editor had when you opened it for the very first time.
the reason that these settings are preserved across Editor Sessions, Projects, and even Editor Installs has to do with Epic wanting to “maintain personal effective workflows”;
- basically if person really likes a given setup, and feels they are effective and efficient using it then Epic doesn’t want to be super prescriptive to say enforce the Default Layout if the user has changed it; which could lead to a different kind of frustration
the down side to this approach is that if the user doesn’t know about the Window
menu they can feel that they have broken the Editor, become frustrated, and maybe stop using the editor because they don’t understand what went wrong like when I had a similar scare myself with a different system
Thank you so much! I really appreciated the help!
