Dev Blog – WIP Playable Area: The Valley
Hey everyone! Sorry for the delay—been deep in development, and I’m excited to finally share a sneak peek of a new playable area currently called “The Valley” (working title).
This region is designed as an atmospheric transition zone—a quiet but uneasy space caught between the ruins of forgotten kingdoms and the looming shadows of ancient magic. Right now, it’s all about getting the layout, mood, and traversal feel just right. Think: overgrown paths, crumbling relics, and that eerie silence that makes you wonder who—or what—is watching.
Here are a few early WIP screenshots from the area (see below
). It’s still rough in places, but I’m testing lighting passes, navigation routes, and how players might stumble across hidden lore or side objectives organically.
As always, feedback and thoughts are welcome. Thanks for sticking with me—more updates coming soon, including the first encounters tied to this region.
Until next time,
– Romario

Hello @RomarioDev !
The scene looks very serene but I can already feel this uneasy ‘too quiet’ to it. I think you’re off to a good start making something look beautiful but just off-putting enough that as a player I would already be looking around for some gimmick in the area. Will the non-colored blocks we see be parts of stone and old ruins or will they be something different entirely?

Thanks! I’m glad the atmosphere is coming across that way—it’s exactly the kind of subtle tension I’m aiming for.
As for the non-colored blocks you see: yes, many of them are intended to be remnants of ancient stone ruins—think crumbled sanctuaries, weathered watchtowers, or even collapsed entrances to forgotten chambers. Some may also be interactable elements like pressure plates, hidden doors, or puzzle mechanisms disguised as part of the environment. I always want the player to ask, “What used to be here… and what still might be?”
If you noticed something feels slightly “off,” then the scene is doing its job.

Hey there @RomarioDev,
Hope you’re well
Just wanted to pop in and say how stunning the environment is. This art-style is one of my favorites so I’m absolutely stoked to see what this ends up looking like. Especially since you’re going for eerie
Can’t wait to see more, happy developing until next time!

Hello again @RomarioDev !
That is very exciting! Maybe it’s all my years of gaming, but looking through the scenery I think that you did well with what you were trying to achieve. I’m very excited to see more development as ancient ruins can tell such a HUGE part of the story. Where they are, what type, and many other key points of what makes something old and crumbling fascinating.
I can’t wait to learn more and see what these ruins behold! Keep up the amazing work.
