The tower - Enviroment and level design

Hello! Welcome to another environment and level design project.

The main focus of this project is the development of a 3d enviroment on a bigger scale than the last one. There are 3 key points to work on this one:

-Modularity
-Level design
-Trimsheets

Here are my references for this project:

My idea is to have a “central hub” where people live, with all these bridges going to the sides of this megastructure.

I’m not entirely convinced about the blockout yet. The idea in my head hasn’t taken shape yet, but we’re working on it.

Feel free to leave any feedback, and keep an eye out if you want to see the updates!

Hello!

New update about my new environment.

This second week, the focus was on finishing the blockout and starting the modeling on the modular assets.

I think the design of the level is okay for the blockout, not loving it right now, but it makes sense because it still needs a lot of work.

The modular asset that I chose to start with is one of the main buildings. The challenge with this one is figuring out a way to break the repetition.

Overall, I like where it’s going, but it feels like the environment hasn’t clicked for me yet.

Hello!

Another week, another update about the project.

This past week, the main focus was on refining the blockout, modeling and adding the buildings to the scene, starting the modeling of the modular assets and importing them into Unreal to start shaping the scene.

They still need some refinement, but here are the modular assets that I’ve been working on:

Next week, I’m gonna be working on creating the first few basic master materials, doing a simple texture pass (if possible), and keep working on the modular assets.

Here are some shots of how it’s coming along:
