The Threshold | Love Death and Robots style short-story

Hi everyone, I can finally share the first teaser trailer for The Threshold, a 15-minute short film made in Unreal Engine 5.2.

We made this with a small team of 4 (1 environment artist, 1 animator, 1 composer, and me taking care of direction, cinematography, and other generalist tasks).

I have created an [Art Station page]
(ArtStation - The Threshold | Teaser Trailer) where you can find some screenshots of the process.

We expect to release more content over the coming months/year and slowly build an audience, to ultimately start a crowdfunding campaign at some point next year.

The project has a website, where you can also sign up to the mailing list and get updates regarding new trailers and content.

Hope you like it.

Hi there @grossimatte !

I absolutely adore this trailer! The little peeks we’re getting into this short film is giving me sort of Cabin in the Woods vibes which I adore. It’s very eerie with the creature sounds at the very end being a little ambiguous and the way the character reacts paints more questions!

I love the suspense and curiosity your trailer leaves and cannot wait to see what lies ahead in The Threshold!

I loved absolutely everything about it! The dynamics of the trailer, the color correction, the character animation, the location… The only thing that was a little frustrating was that it will be a movie and not a game to play! :grinning: Reminds me of “The Quarry”, and I would have loved to play The Threshold as a standalone interactive video game…

Good luck with the project! (subscribed to the newsletter)

Glad you liked it and to hear you picked up on the character reaction at the end! We will paint a bigger picture with the next content releases.

To be honest, we always thought about this project as a potential interactive videogame, such as The Quarry. I used to work at Supermassive Games (Little Hope, House of Ashes), and i have always been a big fan of Interactive Cinematic games, so, never say never!

Here’s a small breakdown for one of the shots of the trailer:

Hi there @grossimatte,

Hope you’re well and having a wonderful week so far!

I absolutely adore this trailer. It wasn’t overly long or flashy or filled with spoilers - just an incredibly well done horror teaser. I can’t wait to see the full film
