Jonathon Frederick made some incredible assets available for free for one month and they are usually my go-to for building sci-fi environments. In my submission, I used a bunch of meshes from the Modular SciFi Season 1 Starter Bundle. For the exterior elements, I had to use Kitbash3d’s Aftermath to really sell the look and feel of a post-apocalyptic city. Lastly, for the landscape, I used Environment Set from NatureManufacture.

For this environment, I wanted to go in the direction of heavy stylization. I learned the hard way that graphics cards can only do so much and my biggest regret was not optimizing it better. The rendered clips could be much more if I had more time or a better graphics card.

The scene itself is an inspiration from '90s anime specifically NGE and I wanted the lighting to reflect the colors and mood. Unfortunately, there was a lot more I wanted to show but we only had 30s max to work with. I’ve included screens to showcase what was missed in the video.
