The Remnants // Short film

Hello. Here is the presentation of my upcoming Unreal Engine short film - The Remnants.
The production is on its final stage and the film will be released soon.

The Remnants is a one man production project, I had to learn a lot to make it possible. Unreal Engine is the key element here, that helped to utilize the real-time virtual production approach. You place all elements to the scene, add lights and cameras and just start filming, paying most of the attention to film directing.

The goal of the project was not making a hyper realistic render or breaking the technology boundaries, the goal was to tell the compelling story. And of course developing the production pipeline for further new films and animation projects (new ideas already gone to preproduction)

Synopsys
It is 5 years after a global disaster. The planet slowly dies so are the hopes of remaining population. Victor is one of survivors who is looking for a place where he can find some food and rest.
Suddenly his eyes catch the orange flickering light. It is not too far from him. Victor gathers all remaining strength and moves himself toward the light.
It is a bonfire, his last hope to stay alive…

Hey there @StanislavPetruk,

Hope you’re doing well and having a wonderful week so far. Also huge welcome to the Unreal Engine community!

You’ve most definitely captured my attention with your story. I found myself curious about what sort of global disaster happened, what got our survivor Victor to where he is now, and what are the possibilities for his future. Absolutely wonderful storytelling in such a short trailer.

Thoroughly impressed by your work here, what are your plans for the potential release date and what are you currently working on with the film?

Thanks for sharing your art and giving a story worth being compelled by!

Hey @PresumptivePanda
Thanks for the warm welcome :slightly_smiling_face:
I am currently just fixing some minor issues, so the film is 99 percent done. The release is planned in the nearest future, till the end of July or during the first week of August. And I need that time mostly because I am also currently planning the best way to present the film to the audience and hope there will be some ppl who are gonna like it

Hey again @StanislavPetruk!

Congrats on releasing your film!!

Show, don’t tell.

That has always been what sold a good story for me. No words were needed, no long explanations, just the raw emotion, and context on the screen. You have fundamentally succeeded in this regard. The film is moving and chilling and challenging to watch emotionally. Truly brilliant work!

Definitely one of my favorite projects I’ve ever seen on the Unreal Engine forums. Thank you so much for sharing it and letting me experience this world you created.

Thank you!

I watched the whole film. its the best film I’ve seen and I think it was either the emotion in the actors face and the sound design is superb. I’m inspired to make a short in the engine now. Thank you. How long did it take you as a one man army?
