The most useful setting for level design is missing a hotkey!

“Paste here” is legit the most useful setting for all developers placing things in the map, and its hidden in a sub-menu and is missing a hotkey as well!

Would love to have a hotkey for it since I use it a ton when moving things far away (gizmo doesn’t help there) and I would be down if that was the default when pressing ctrl + V too (Ctrl+D to do what ctrl + V does now) !

Is it possible to customize the UE editor through INI tweaks (similar to BP node favorites menu)? As it’d really help to have hotkeys / context-menu shortcuts for these too (thanks):

  1. SELECT Matching → Select all static meshes with same material (removed in UE5)
  2. Move editor CAMERA speed Up / Down
  3. Set PIVOT Offset here
  4. Fast easy way to disable editor REAL-TIME rendering
  5. When moving meshes during level editing, LOCK AXIS to just X+Y temporarily.
  1. Shift + E
  2. Hold right click + scroll wheel
  3. Alt + hold middle mouse button and move the gizmo
  4. Alt + 3 to disable, Alt + 4 to enable
  5. Grab the square of the gizmo

Some good stuff in there, thanks for sharing. :sunglasses: Especially like Shift+E (won’t forget that).

It’d be great to find a laptop friendly / trackpad solution to ^this^. Often stuck without a mouse on trains / buses / cars / planes (plus cramped hot-desk swap type spaces).

So easy with a mouse… But again need to find laptop trackpad workaround. Some laptops offer middle mouse button if LMB / RMB clicked at same time, but not this rig sadly. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

When moving meshes at a distance in large levels at certain angles, the X or Y part of the gizmo can be effectively blocked / obstructed by the Z-axis. That was the reason for asking if there was another way maybe to lock 2 axis to avoid triggering Z with X or Z with Y???

There is surface snapping if you are worried about Z being in your way. Also not sure but maybe there is software that can rebind keys externally, so you use the hotkeys you want. Anyhow, they just released something about the hotkeys in this update, heading there to check it out, I suggest you do the same!
