The marketplace loads extremely slow

I have slow Internet and when I go to the marketplace and open something it loads extremely slow, it takes up to 5 minutes or something until the images of the item are loaded.

I would like to see that the marketplace also works for people with slow Internet.

My download speed is 2.4 megabit/s.

I think if .jpg was allowed to use the overall loading time of marketplace pages could improve a lot.

I don’t know if it’s web design in general or due to some other factor, but when I used .jpgs on my site the image would blur, as opposed to .pngs which were crisp. This may be why they request .pngs.

There are many websites that use .jpg while they look crisp too. And they end up being a lot smaller in file size. I have no idea about technical issues with websites but if there has been a problem with .jpgs showing blurry it’s definitely a problem on Epic’s part.

If developers don’t compress the JPEG images they should be crisp.

They only compress the images if they are above 1MB in file size. So they are compressing the .pngs as well (if they are bigger than 1MB).
Naturally (93.5% of the time) JPEGS don’t get to 1MB at 1920x1080 so they will load faster than .png images and the quality difference isn’t going to be noticeable easily.
