The Last Of Us CheckPoint

This week, I finished the last section of modeling, the “security barrier.” In this section, I modeled concrete walls, security booths, and an elevated platform for surveillance.

Additionally, I completed the vertex painting for the wall and placed the final vines to finish that section. I also added some vertex painting to the surrounding walls and streets to reflect both wear and the encroachment of nature on the city.

I also completed the central part of the checkpoint with weathering and rust on the walls and accumulated trash inside.

This week, I only need to adjust details like some fallen cables and add a few decals to polish the final look of the scene. Additionally, I plan to add vertex painting to some buildings so everything has a general worn look. I also plan to add signs or signals that I already have; I just need to do a bit of modeling to place them.

We’re in the final week, and I’m almost finished with my scene. This week, I completed all the vertex painting on the buildings to give them a more worn-out look. I also had to re-download several textures that were in 2K resolution but were completely white or black, which was unnecessarily consuming memory. I modified the LOD of some plants to reduce the noticeable pop-in effect.

Additionally, I added some decals inspired by in-game messages to give the environment a bit of backstory.

I also modeled a few more elements to add complexity to the scene, such as street lamps, barrels, and police barricades. I used cables to connect between the poles as well.

Now, I just need to do some more optimization since I’m still having memory issues with the graphics card in specific areas. I’m considering whether to model a few more objects to add detail, but primarily, I will focus on optimizing as much as possible.
