'The Image is unrecognised' error

I succesfully reconstructed a scan but keep getting a ‘The image is unrecognised’ error during texturing. I’ve tried using both the JPG _geometry set and TIF _texture set with the same results.

Does anyone have a fix for this issue?

Hi itdrewitself,
I would recommend checking the image codecs on that computer. You can check more about that here.

Are those images stored locally? When you use those images in a new project, is it the same?

Hi, your link to “here” is dead, do you know why i suddenly can’t texture or even export original images (it randomly stop at an image, that work fine on any other software, idk why) (impossible to revert 24H2 on that particular computer.)

Hi @softyoda
This is a bug: Unreal Engine Issues and Bug Tracker (RC-1881)
You can try to use two workarounds:

  1. Resave the JPG images to a different format. The image may lose EXIF metadata, such as the focal length, but that can be manually edited in RealityCapture.

  2. If you have the original RAW images, develop the images to a different format than JPG without the loss of EXIF metadata.
