Dear All,

I am sharing my second Unreal short, where I took a stab at working with Metahumans, focusing on creating dialogue situations. The uncanny and somewhat creepy “teethy” lip movement remains, but it’s still remarkable how accessible facial capture is via this pipeline. The body animation was mostly done through Quickmagic, which leaves a lot to be desired, but is afforadble.

I would be grateful for any feedback on how to improve the elements beyond the obvious budgetary constraints, like hiring actors for voice delivery, etc.

Hi @ClassyAlpaca Really enjoyed watching this, the dialogue and character interactions feel natural, and the facial animation is impressive. The “teethy” lip movement is noticeable, but smoothing that out and adding small expressions could make it feel even more alive.

The teethy lip movement is something I’ll definitely try to work around going forward. Hopefully gradual upgrades to the MetaHuman pipeline will also make it easier to avoid!
