The Epic Games Launcher Setup Wizard Ended Prematurely

I downloaded the launcher for the first time, and i get this error " The Epic Games Launcher Setup Wizard Ended Prematurely"
Did some googling and troubleshooting and it seems to be relatively common, howver the solution always seems to be to delete the Epic Games folder from the Programme Files and Programme Files x86 from the C: drive.

The thing is, i have no trace of these files.

I have also downloaded the Advanced uninstaller PRO and can’t see any trace of Epic Games being installed, and no background activity in the task manager. I’m really lost - not sure what else to do. My PC is very high spec so shouldn’t be an issue with that either - any help would be really really appreciated! I was planning on starting an unreal Engine course during the christmas holidays and would really like to get this sorted by then!

Thank you!!

Hey there @mao-bro! Welcome to the community! It’s possible that it’s related to a location permission issue. Does the launcher have permission to write to the location you had targeted?

In your registry, is there a location already set for the Epic games launcher?

Hey! Thanks for getting back to me.
No - there doesn’t seem to be any location for Epic games launcher (screenshot below)

It does however seem to crash as soon as it starts setting permissions - so you might be onto something there. Any idea why that could be>

SOLUTION FOUND!!

THANKS TO SlightPhase9568 OVER ON REDDIT!

here’s the solution if anyone has this problem in future, not sure why, but it works.

"First uninstall every traces of epic games in folders like program files and program(x86) and even register Also if you want to COMPLETLY remove any traces you can use the revo uninstaller software.

Then :Task manager > Execute a new task > msiexec.exe and also check "create a new task with administator privilege > browse > go where your epicgame setup is ( put it in desktop ) and click it one time and click open, if it’s not showing look bottom right of the file explorer and select “every files” or smth like that (my windows is not in english)

I didn’t found the solution by myself, I was in the same situation as you, after one day of searching I found an espagnol guy on tiktok that gave the solution TikTok - Make Your Day"
