The direction of root motion is weird

Hi I’m learning some animations in UE5 and I have a question about it.
First of all I’m from Korea so I’m not that good at English, hope you don’t mind.

I imported an animation from Mixamo, converted on Blender and apply to UE5.
It has a movement while animating, it’s an attack animation.

But it doesn’t work that well, when I check the root motion button, it looks weird way.

The animation before apply root motion

After applied root motion

And the final result

As you can see the character begins attack and the axis turns to 10 o’clock, and when finished the animaiton, it positions currectly again.

So What I want to say is
Why the character is attacking that way instead of the front?

Because your root bone for that animation has a rotational offset the Z was exported with a value other then Zero

Thanks John! Ideally the rotation value of the Root Bone should keep zero in the animation sequence. If not, try to use “Edit In Sequencer” to copy/add Root rotation value to lower level Bone and delete rotation values of Root.
