i respect how many hours that was put on this project… good work
for mouth animation do you use audio to animation or manual?
Mouth animation was all done using IClone lipsync which works very well. Just paste in the audio and the application generates great animation. Its the best i have found for this. I have also tried using facial motion capture, but this does not work very well for mouth animation only facial animation.
i see… i also think using manual is very time consuming. thx for the info !
Greetings @pxh01 !
I’ve just finished watching The Devils Gate and have read the information you posted on ArtStation! It is so mind blowing that this is a one-person project! It must have taken several months!
And to learn that you didn’t have a script! You just made it up as you went along! I’m astonished! The atmospheric music you created for the cave within the mountain was perfect for setting the mood and intensity of the environment.
Your film has sparked many questions! How did the General get her scar?
Is there a name for the creatures featured in your film? What is the relationship between the Gate Keeper and the Undead? Who erected the Undead shrine? Who was worshipping the Undead? Is that a statue or one of the Undead suspended in animation? How were the people evaporated or obliterated? What do the Undead gain by destroying worlds? From what sources did you grab inspiration?
Are you a professional, student, or a hobbyist? Are you self-taught or formally trained in the various software you used to develop your project?
Are you currently developing your next project?
I don’t mean to bombard you with questions, but your film stimulated my imagination!
Bit of a late reply, but thanks for the questions. Will answer your questions in reverse order.
Yes i am developing new project should be complete soon. Called the “The Outpost” is about -two space explorers crash land on planet and discover an abandoned outpost. Once inside they discover the evil hidden there.
I am hobbyist, many years ago i started modeling with Blender, then jumped into UE3 a bit. Took break for awhile and then got into iclone for character animation. These days spending more time trying to perfect my skills in UE4/5 environment for cinematics.
Regarding your questions on my story. Those are all good points that could have improved the story telling. But for me my main goal was just to see if i could pull it all together. Use it as learning experience to become better at the tools.
It did take several months to create for sure. I do have full time job, so was mainly on weekends. Some of those sets took awhile to create, even though i purchased most of the content. But yes its one person show.
I am a jack of all trades, master of none. But you should see slight improvement in my next project.
