When crafting each character, a short backstory is written to inspire the many nuances that go into visualising someone.

Leni:

Leni didn’t plan to make anything that night; she just sat cross-legged on her studio floor with a half-finished canvas staring back like it was withholding a secret. As the mushrooms began to blur the room’s hard edges, the world turned oddly honest, as if every object finally admitted what it wanted to be. The blue of the wall stopped being “blue” and became distance, the kind you feel between two people who almost say the important thing. Her freckles in the mirror looked like constellations rearranging themselves into a map, and suddenly she understood that her best work wasn’t about drawing faces or hands, it was about drawing attention.. She grabbed her sketchbook and started tracing the afterimages of everything: the halo around a glass of water, the soft vibration of shadows, the way silence seemed to have texture like velvet you couldn't wrinkle. By morning, the spell had faded and left her with cramped fingers and pages full of strange, looping diagrams. One shape, however, kept repeating. A calm little orbit that felt like a promise. She built her next series around it, painting portraits where the “subject” was the invisible gravity between things, the tender pull that makes a room feel lived in, that makes a memory feel warm, or a life feel briefly connected.
