When crafting each character, a short backstory is written to inspire the many nuances that go into visualising someone.

Alecia:

Alecia’s day starts the way they all do lately, with her inbox barking before the kettle even boils, and by 9:12, she’s already translating someone else’s panic into bullet points that make it look like a strategy. In the elevator mirror, she watches her own face rehearse neutrality, smoothing over the tiny tremor at the corner of her mouth like an error in one of her spreadsheets. The morning becomes a neat parade of small violences: a colleague taking credit with a laugh, a “quick favor” that isn’t quick, a meeting where her idea is applauded only after a louder voice repeats it. After lunch, she’s called into a glass box and handed a “re-org opportunity” that is, in reality, a knife with a ribbon on it, and something inside her finally leans back from the desk, exhausted by the constant bracing. She walks out, not dramatic, just quiet, and in the bathroom stall, she presses her forehead to the cool divider and thinks, for the first time without flinching, I could simply stop. Back at her computer, she opens a blank email, cursor blinking like a heartbeat, and instead of typing a resignation, she writes three words to herself in all caps: CHOOSE YOUR LIFE.
