Thank you for speaking up on AI-assisted indie development and solo realities

I wanted to share a quick word of thanks regarding Tim Sweeney’s recent posts about the actual economics and pressures of indie development.

Traditional solo development—working a 12-month marathon under massive financial and physical pressure—is an impossible wall for many of us. For developers dealing with neurological hurdles like a TBI, or physical barriers that make traditional coding and workflows grueling, AI assistance isn’t about chasing trends or cutting corners. It’s an accessibility tool that bridges the gap, making game development actually viable instead of an exclusive club reserved for the healthy, wealthy, or completely undamaged.

Facing an unhelpful and invalidating reaction in a community when opening up about using these tools to bridge the gap caused by a TBI and EOA—only to have people focus entirely on policing the tools rather than acknowledging real-world hurdles—is deeply discouraging. Seeing industry leaders highlight that traditional gatekeeping hurts actual creators while platform holders and asset providers virtue-signal from the sidelines is powerful.

Thank you for standing up for the realists and the solo devs just trying to build a livelihood, maintain their well-being, and bring a vision to life.
