I am having a bit of trouble with texturing terrain. I set up the terrain texture with layerblends (followed this tutorial - https://www…com/watch?v=tsXVP0fykBM&list=WL∈dex=201) but for some reason the preview shows the texture as black. This means that once I create the terrain it is black and I have to paint each square in the terrain individually. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or alternatives to make it easier to paint the textures.
That is intended functionality. The way your material is setting up you technically have not told it what its base material should be, so it assumes that you want the base material to be black and that you will add other materials on top of it.
I’m going to keep digging as I want to say there is, but at least at present the best I could do was increase the preview weight to 1.0 on one of the layers, which will show that layer as the landscape texture until you actually begin painting, then it returns to the black texture.
