actually for testing went down to pretty minimal picture sets - like 60, where I previously completed projects with more than 400 successfully.
I don’t believe there is a hardware problem - it’s a solid, recent Alienware notebook that should be good for that task and handles similar intense jobs without issues.
I so hope in the end it’s not some stupid thing I am doing wrong - otherwise, I owe all you guys big time for causing so much fuzz
You’ve certainly tried a lot! But since that didn’t get you anywhere, it might make sense to widen the radius a bit. Since it worked fine for Zuzana with one of your own projects, it’s hard to imagine that RC is causing it. And hardware does break sometimes…
I bet you did a reset on all the settings, right? I would try and uncheck the graphics card and then re-activate it, maybe after exiting RC. Did you un- and re-install yet?
Thanks Götz - however the problem stays with that dataset.
Started from fresh , simplified to about 2 mio tris - crashed at something between 50% and 70% texturing.
I was able to do some other model though https://sketchfab.com/models/9a768c30059740a59bb09c42dae646bc
So - I would assume it’s some edge case between the dataset and my configuration or something.
I would highly appreciate to get some feedback from the numerous crash logs I reported (some of them I linked to this thread) - maybe that would give further clues.
If I get some info about what I ‚did wrong‘ that causes the crash then I could avoid that in the future.
I hate to be such pain in the ■■■ - but right now I can’t help it
I deinstalled RC, deleted all directories and conf files and caches I could find - now it seams to work well again.
So: definetly something on my side - however I still believe it would make sense to track this thing down - if only to give the user a better hint what exactly goes wrong and how to make it better.
Anyways: thanks to all for your support suggestions.
