Text Uppercase not working with accents.

I’m having an issue with 3D text and a custom font installed on the system. The character map shows that this font has uppercase versions of the accented letters in question, but Uppercase apparently does not know how to interpret them, so it leaves them lower case. As an example, “Fermín López,” a member of the Spanish national team, gets converted to what is shown in the image.

Is there another method? Do I need to write my own?

I’ve found “Text to Upper” works for this, while string’s “To Upper” doesn’t
