Speaking of tiling texturing of modular assets, there are a huge number of tutorials dedicated to texel density, but in all their training videos, the authors make assets as they like (TD 10.24 / texture resolution 4096 * 4096 or TD 5.12 / 2048 * 2048 asset 4 * 4 or 2 * 2 meters), and not as it happens in real tasks. But what if in a real technical task the dimensions of the asset (let it be a modular wall) are as follows: 3 * 3 meters, with TD 10.24 and 2048 * 2048 texture? Exactly, with these parameters, the texture tile will be tiled not 1 or 2 times on the texture square, and 1.5 times. And this is already a problem if the texture contains patterns in the form of bricks or ceramic tiles, because with a tiling of 1.5 there will be no normal joint. Some artists say that this TD is not a panacea and its values can be slightly changed to please yourself. Others change the size of the patterns themselves in the substance designer, wasting extra time. And still others use “crutches” in the form of third-party plugins for their 3d packages, which allow you to automatically set the tile to the specified mapping parameters. But this is just a plug-in, it does not create a new texture, but only adjusts the existing texture to the desired tile, with non-ideal joints. And what do you advise?
