Tessellation deprecated?

I have never done Parallax for a landscape and I am not sure if it is more performant. Now how would you get a surface extrusion detail if it is not with Tessallation in the future? From what I understand you can import full detailed models and avoid creating lods, normals, displacements etc… But what about for a landscape? Anyone heard anything about what’s gonna be replacing that feature?
