Terrain tool glitch


I am trying to use the basic sculpt tool in the landscape editor but it just seems to be broken. The tool generates completely random heights right at the edge of the terrain and nothing happens where the tool actually is on the screen. If I save the project the terrain corrects itself and generates the expected result but currently it’s impossible to use like this.

I this a known issue with a fix?

This has never been an issue until now, it is very random and nothing has changed. This is the same in old projects which were perfectly fine before. I have tried several versions of the editor as well and no difference. I am working on an iMac 5k with AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4096 MB.
