We are looking for a technical director to join our team for 3 - 6 months while working on a production in collaboration with a few international studios.
Responsibilities:

Handle performance and content optimization needs within Unreal 4 for maximum memory and performance gains (e.g. visual effects, 3d models, textures, materials, lighting, blueprints, etc).

Develop optimized character systems for a wide range of 3D characters: animation rigs, dynamics/sims, FX emitters, ragdoll collisions, etc.

Collaborate with art, design, and engineering to ensure maximum efficiency between all parts of the game development pipeline

Maintain and improve the art tools pipeline ensuring an optimized workflow between all toolsets (Unreal 4, Maya, Zbrush, Substance, etc)

Develop content creation guidelines for the art team and help enforce best practices.
Requirements:

Experience in Maya and traditional 3D and animation software.

Have a competent showreel and resume of projects and studios they have worked with.

Have an open mind and attitude.
The position is for in the studio, in Cape Town. We are not a game studio but animation and this pipeline will be used to create a high-end short film.
Remuneration is negotiable and will be based on experience. Start date: July
