Tech Sound - adjusting according to player position

Hey guys,

I’ve been running into an issue in one level that I’m working on right now: I have a huge waterfall and I want players to hear it from pretty much all over the level. However, in order to do that, the sound gets insanely loud when players are near the audio source. Do you have any suggestions on how to accomplish that in a way that it feels ‘natural’ (believable), but, at the same time, doesn’t bother players too much when they get close to the waterfall?
