Hi,
For learning purposes, I would like to inspect the material tree of the Talisman material. Sadly, the materials are Read Only and there for not viewable. Will there be an in depth tutorial on how the dev team created the materials?
Thanks!

Hello, welcome to the Forums.
Good request, I also wonder the reasoning for this lock. (For Fortnite assets it makes sense, but I’m used to having unfettered access with released content)
From what I can tell the ‘Referenced Content’ in Talisman maps to the .uref files in …YourProjectsFolder\Tman\References. Which, if you open those in a text editor shows an ‘id’ reference to Fab (the future asset distribution system).
ANYWAYS
If you share screenshots of the materials in question maybe we can point you in the right direction.
For example, I saw these cool grates and figure they’re made using parallax occlusion mapping.
I’m totally agree.
In a GDC presentation, Epic mentioned that they provided an extremely high-quality Master Material in Talisman. Studying this could greatly contribute to improving the quality of our island.
In the Talisman Environment, several assets are stored under the regular Content section. It would be fantastic if the Master Material could also be migrated in a similar manner…
Hi @Astrotronic,
Thank you for the welcome and response. I would really like to know how the Talisman team setup the Master Material and the vertex colors on the meshes. I hope that in the future it will be stored in the regular content section like @YuyaShiotani mentioned.
Thanks for the extra info,
The docs on Material Instances and Vertex Colors would help you get started with that. (Additionally there are several online video tutorials on each of those topics)
Disappointing that these resources were promised, only to be later stripped away.
